    Derived Rate Adjustment Amounts

Information on the calculation adjustment options when setting up Derived Rate Types in RMS.

    Derived Rates

Derived Rates, formerly referred to as 'Linked Rates' in RMS allow for setting up an alternate charge type for Categories that has rate prices automatically calculated based on the selected Master Rate.

Depending on the rate schedule at your property, you may be able to setup one Master Rate Type and have all other Rate Types setup as Derived. This can save significant time when managing rates both for entering new fees each calendar year or when applying rate adjustments as part of a revenue management strategy.

    Adjustment Types

    Percentages

Derived Rates can be setup as a positive or negative percentage adjustment from the selected Master Rate.

This would cause the pricing of the Derived Rate Type to always be the set percentage less or greater than the target Master Rate.

For example, a Master Rate at $100 with a Derived Rate setup as -10% would become $90.

This can further be adjusted with the introduction of Packages, Taxes and Additionals setup on the Master Rate, Derived Rate or both depending on the options selected.

    Amounts

Derived Rates can be setup as a positive or negative flat amount adjustment from the selected Master Rate.

This would cause the pricing of the Derived Rate Type to always be that set flat amount less or greater than the target Master Rate.

For example, a Master Rate at $100 with a Derived Rate setup as -$10 would become $90.

This can further be adjusted with the introduction of Packages, Taxes and Additionals setup on the Master Rate, Derived Rate or both depending on the options selected.

    Complex Rate Schedules

There are many options available in RMS when it comes to Rate Setup that can be used in combination to achieve the desired result.

Depending on business requirements, a Master Rate can be setup with Dynamic Pricing by Occupancy and/or Time with a Derived Rate setup to apply further price adjustments. Packages both inclusive and exclusive can be introduced on either the Master Rate Type or Derived Rate as well as individual pricing for additional persons.

Derived Rates can also be setup with dual adjustments, providing a double layer of price alteration from the selected Master Rate when required.

Additionally, Rate Types can be shared between properties whilst having different rate schedules setup in Property Rate Rules against the Rate Type or Derived Rate Type.
