    Housekeeping Task Hierarchy

    Information on the various areas Housekeeping Tasks can be applied and how they interact in RMS.

    What are Housekeeping Tasks

    Housekeeping Tasks are the tasks that will be performed by a housekeeper or housekeeping service at the Property. They can include anything performed by the Housekeeping Department across the property.

    System Housekeeping Tasks include Pre-Arrival Check and Departure Clean.

    Where Can Housekeeping Tasks Be Applied

    Housekeeping Tasks can be applied in the following areas of RMS:

    • Property
    • Category
    • Area
    • Rate Type
    • Derived Rate Type

    Where Should Housekeeping Tasks Be Applied

    For optimal setup and simpler management, Housekeeping Tasks should be set at the highest level possible.

    For example, if all Categories receive a Daily Service, the Daily Service Task should be created once and applied at a Property level.

    Once Housekeeping Tasks are setup at a Property level you only want to apply tasks at a lower level if they are different to the Property level configuration.

    This means if all Categories use the exact same Housekeeping Tasks these can be setup once at the Property level with no need to add them to Category or Area setup.

    If there are Housekeeping Tasks setup at a Property level and tasks are then added to the Category or Area, RMS will only look at the tasks setup on the Category or Area and ignore the Property setup for that particular Category or Area.

    This means if there is a variation to Housekeeping Tasks required for a specific Category or Area, all applicable tasks should be configured on that Area or Category as the Property level ones will be ignored altogether.

    Setting up Housekeeping Tasks on Rate Types can be reserved for occasions where a completely different set of Housekeeping Tasks are required from the regular configuration if a reservation is made with this particular Rate Type.

    For example, an Eco Rate may be offered at a lower price and not include a Daily Service or linen change if staying less than 7 days. This may differ from the regular Rates where a Daily Service is provided. In this scenario the Eco Rate Type can be setup with the Housekeeping Tasks that apply to it only.
