Credit Card Information Received from Online Travel Agents

Information on how credit card details are handled in RMS for online reservations.

Credit Card Information from Online Travel Agents

At the time a guest books online via a third party Online Travel Agent they are requested to provide Credit Card details to secure their reservation.

Depending on the configuration in RMS, these details will come with the reservation in one of two ways.

Using your Own Payment Gateway in RMS

When you have configured your RMS with a Payment Gateway and have the facilities to create CC Tokens and process payments from RMS using these tokens; if an Online Travel Agent has passed through enough information for your payment gateway to be able to create a Token, a Token will be automatically created and securely stored against the guest's record in place of the RMS Vault Token.  This token can then be seen and used in the receipt screen of RMS.

If an Online Travel Agent has not passed through enough information for your payment gateway to be able to create a Token, an RMS Vault Token will be provided to securely store the information that was passed in, allowing you to access this information securely as always.

Virtual Credit Cards provided by an Online Travel Agent will be created as a single use CC Token in RMS.

If you have already configured a Payment Gateway with RMS, no additional RMS setup is required however, you may wish to check with the individual Online Travel Agents you are connected with to ensure they will provide sufficient information to RMS at time of reservation to allow RMS to create a CC Token.

Not using a Payment Gateway in RMS

No changes will occur, an RMS Vault Token will be provided to securely store the credit card information that was passed in, allowing you to access this information securely as always.
